Safety FAQ
What is the minimum PPE required?
At minimum, a long-sleeved lab coat, closed-toe shoes covering the entire foot, and ANSI-approved safety glasses are required for entry into most BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratories.
How do I access Safety Data Sheets (SDS)?
SDS are available in the yellow binders located near the main laboratory entrance or digitally through the chemical inventory database on any lab computer.
What should I do if I spill a chemical?
Alert your supervisor and nearby colleagues immediately. If safe, contain the spill using the appropriate kit. For hazardous or large spills, evacuate the area and call emergency services.
